Just Me asked:

Since late November, I’ve been eating about 500-800 calories a day. I noticed that my hair has really started to thin out in the front and it seems like I am shedding a lot of hair.

I was under the impression that hair loss only occured in severe cases of anorexia, though. And I have gone for way longer eating way less and never had any problems with hair loss.

Anyways, what should I expect to happen? Is it going to keep falling out?

How do I know if I have binge eating disorder?

simranjit s asked:

Eat much more quickly than usual during binge episodes.
John asked:

My girlfriend is getting a eating disorder, she is only eating a cracker a day and keeps worrying about her own weight. If she even eats a bit more she will throw up afterwards. She has perfectly healthy weight (at the moment) for a girl her age. I am real worried about her getting anorexia later on. She will not listen when I ask her to eat normally, no matter what I say. What could I do as her boyfriend to help her?

Anorexia Nervosa In Men – The Silent Victims

Usually anorexia is more commonly diagnose in women, although there are many men that also have anorexia and eating disorders. The problem for men is that they dont want to look for help or tell anybody about their eating disorders because they dont want to be embarrassed or feel shame of having a disorder that is more common is women.

10% of the people with eating disorders are men and the statistics might be even higher, most of the support groups are full of women, so men tend to avoid getting help, they dont want to be judged or receive critics by people they know.

Men that practice sports that require low weight and a perfect body are at more risk of anorexia and eating disorders. They feel that they will be seen as gays or seen as weak for having anorexia. However, eating disorders are a problem that can affect anyone especially people that get obsessive with their body and are constantly evaluated by others.

If you have an eating disorder and you are man, you should find help from people around you, but also professional help. If you feel uncomfortable going to support groups with other women then find an expert to help you personally. If you do a search on the internet, im sure you will find other men like you with the same problems.

Eating disorders are an emotional problem that require proper treatment. Talk to your family, accept your problem and follow a careful treatment, where you will progress little by little, you wont be suggested to eat a lot the same day, you have to adapt your body to nutrient food gradually.

Some of the common symptoms of men or women with anorexia are excessive exercising, use of laxants, vomiting, secrecy, throwing food, depression, isolation and more. You need to find support, start with your family, the sooner you seek help the easier it will be to overcome it.

I Have an Eating Disorder?

austenwack asked:

Sorry it took me so damn long to upload a new video. I hope you guys enjoy this one! :) I just wanted to touch on something I had thought of for a little bit which was the fact that the gay community is constantly trying to break free of stereotypes, yet within the community we have our own that are just as unacceptable as the ones we are fighting. That just makes NO sense to me. So be who you are and don’t try to fit it, you won’t be noticed if you’re just fitting in. Song: Sleepyhead – Passion Pit

Anorexia is an eating disorder where people starve themselves and treatment of anorexia is difficult, because people with this disease believe there is nothing wrong with them. Anorexia is one type of eating disorder and another is bulimia. Both are applicable to men but much more common for women. Preteens, girls especially, can develop a serious eating disorder. Eating disorders may begin in children as young as 8 years old.

People with eating disorders really do harmful things to their bodies because of their obsession about their weight. The most widely and rapidly spreading eating disorder is compulsive overeating or binge eating disorder. There are three types of eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and ED-NOS (Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified). Anorexia is a mental illness, it usually is about a control issue.

If you are on this web site then you probably already know what anorexia is. In one example anorexia is described as a way of gaining attention. It is for sure a condition that leads to problems with eating. The most common form of anorexia is simply satiation following the consumption of food. Central to persons in this condition is an abnormal fear of gaining weight.

If you are suffering from most of the symptoms of anorexia, but not really severely or really that noticed, you need medical help anyway. There are also some very unusual symptoms like pregnancy symptoms. Angina symptoms can also be common. Primarily though is the sudden interest in weight loss, food, calories etc. You can have The Eating Attitudes Test which gives an index of the symptoms of anorexia nervosa.

There are many treatment centers for persons with eating disorder, but enough. So although eating disorders are rampant in our society, yet few states in the nation have adequate programs or services to combat anorexia nervosa and bulimia. As up to 10 million teens develop eating disorders, abnormal attitudes and behaviors with foods, which include anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa. Eating disorders that are literally killing youngsters and adults.

To get a proper treatment you should search for institutions with an Eating Disorders Intensive Counseling Treatment Program to treat these eating disorders. Some also offer Specialized Adolescent Eating Disorder Programs including help for their parents. In spite of all the treatment available there remain a small number, usually girls, who die from this condition despite energetic and expert treatment.

The sooner the treatment is started, the better the chance of recovery. Remember you can make a difference by helping a friend confront her illness and seek treatment. Successful treatment of anorexia requires that the patient´s symptoms be egodystonic enough for the patient to be motivated to do something about them.

What is appropriate treatment when a person with an eating disorder is also a substance abuser. Some commentators have spoken out against psychiatric treatment of anorexia nervosa in general and, in particular, against compulsory treatment. Treatment of anorexia nervosa is often quite complicated the patient must want to change and must have family and friends to help them.

The motivation for anorexia is the mirror, how do I look. So the best you can say to a person with anorexia is “You don´t look healthy”.

How to stop binge eating?

Avery asked:

I have a huge problem with binge eating. I just feel like eating all the time even if I’m not hungry and I’m starting to gain weight becuase of it. I want to try to stop binge eating before I gain a lot of weight. I don’t binge on unhealthy food and I eat really healthy so my problem is stopping myself from eating when I’m not hungry. Does anyone else have this problem or know of any tips to stop?

Also, I don’t eat in front of the tv or with any distractions. My problem is just that I’ll feel like eating all the time even when I’m not hungry.
