Self control?! Obviously you have not heard this is a REAL psychological disorder.

Probably a med that treats anxiety like xanax. But I’m not really sure. I haven’t taken a psychopharamacology course yet so there a good chance Im wrong. Sry!
stackers works fine for me, and I want to keep busy too. good luck!
id like to know as well. i think a doctor told me that you have to stop this habit yourself and once you stop it in your mind it will be stopped physically, but you have to go to therapy for that. if you dont have time/money, like me, then just snap a rubber band around your wrist (its supposed to hurt) every time you are hungry, or brush your teeth.
An eating disorder is best treating with a therapist. Eating disorders come from bigger problems than just thinking you are fat. Try and find a support group in your area of ED and a therapist. Anti-depressants will help give you a more positive out look, but therapy will be the thing that really helps you recover.
anti anxiety meds (benzo’s like klonopin & ativan), sometimes antipsychotics (abilify, seroquel, geodon etc)if there are signs of a mood disorder also and sometimes mood stabilizers (like lamictal & depokote but depokote causes weight gain so they may not prescribe that with an ED)
Everyone wants drugs to solve their problems, how about trying a little self control?
You can do it, I know you can, and you know you can!
Good luck!
A pschycological disorder? That’s what I’m talking about. A person’s mind set is what puts a person in that dilemma, a persons mind set is what can get them out.
I know I’ll get a lot of thumbs down for this response, but, when a person starts smoking, the first few times they smoke, they cough their lungs out and it tastes like crap, but they pat themselves on the back and are proud of themselves for smoking. Eventually their bodies adjust to smoking, and they become addicted. It’s not the tabacco they are addicted to, it’s the process of smoking. I’ve smoked for 20 years, I know what I’m talking about.
Using the same behavior you can control your eating habits.
I’m not saying it’s easy, but it does work and will work, if you want it to work, and believe it can work.
If you read this answer, would you please tell the asker to reread my answer, she gave me a thumbs down, and doesn’t know what else I’ve added. Thank you!
just like smoking…..the only way your going to be able to stop is if you just don’t do it. just have control. i know easier said then done, but just contemplate with yourself.
Yes — I would be pissed too if someone suggested “self control” to me. I don’t have binge eating disorder, I suffer from anorexia/bulimia but I too wish there was a pill I could just take.
Unfortunately I don’t think there exists one. I do take seroquil a couple times a day (plus a large dose to sleep at night) and that is a bit helpful.
Perhaps, though, what helps me the most is that i have a distraction list written out. You know, stuff like: go for a walk, do a crossword puzzle, call a friend, etc. I know it sounds lame, but I actually have written out a LONG list and everynow and then it actually works.
Small steps … you aren’t going to be cured over night.
Good luck to you !!
