Can someone become anorexic on their own or is anorexia already in their mind?

I have alwayways wondered if someone can “just become” anorexic or if anorexia is something they are born with that shows after stress in life. I have never had the want to not eat so I would think it’s something you are born with. I know it’s a disease, but is it an imbedded disease? Thanks.

and i think an eating disorder is in some peoples genes.
or, it was in mine
ive often wondered this too sounds slightly pathetic but i would love to have anerexia for a month or so thats all just to shift all this weight! I do belive it is a disease in the brain though and i know its no laughing matter. Or maybe if someone is bullied enough about their weight food becomes their enemy??
Its an eating disorder so it starts slow and works in about a month then your mind has been taken over. Nothing you can do to help.
It’s all cerebral, mental disorders are transferred through genes and anoreia is just something you may worry yourself into having because the of the mental disorder.
Anorexia like Bulimia,Murder,Pyromania,Homosexuality,Hetrosexuality,Bi-sexuality,Alcoholism,Drug Addiction,Gambling Addiction are ALL born from choice.
I’ve had both anorexia when I was approx. 14-16 and then Bulimia from about 15 – 20 and I don’t really know what my answer to this question is. I mean, I did have quite a hard upbringing, I was sexually abused by my father from about age 5 – 7 and was emotionally abused by both my mother and father for my whole life and I do believe that the anorexia/bulimia was an attempt to control my life and what was happening the in environment around me. The sexual abuse was covered up by my mother and father who never even spoke about it hoping that I would forget but how could you forget something like that. I believe that my whole life I have been lied to and yeah, it was an attempt to take control. And this might sound stupid but it started as a kind of “let’s get fit and healthy” kind of thing but then it just spiraled out of control and in the end both the anorexia and bulimia had nothing to do with food. It was the addiction/the control and the numb feeling that you can get from both. but I do kind of feel that there is an addiction gene in my blood. I have looked at family history and there is no anorexia/bulimia/addiction/OCD. But yeah, i just though I would share my thoughts.
“Anorexia is not something you can be one day then be normal the next. ”
Someone can’t become anorexic. It is something that just happens to unfortune woman. It is a diet that became an obsession to the vicim. The woman doesnt’ want it but there mind, their brain tells them they need to.
Anorexia is about the woman wanting control. THey have no will power to control this desire. THe need to take somethign control when the feel they have lost something or some kind of control. THey get so out of control that they lose control of their body. It is self abuse. Something that people suffer. anorexics get like cave men as their body struggles to keep warm after losing essential body fat.
“‘First of all-anorexia is NOT something you are born with or is genetic. Anorexia is a mental disorder, classified as an abnormal psychological behaviour. Although it has been known to occur mostly in females, but not entirely, and is more common now then ever before due to pressure in our society to be thin.”
My sister had anorexia since she was twelve. She stills struggles to this day. She tells people that she didn’t jsut become anorexia. It just happened. So from an actual persons point of view. It actually occurs.
