Counting calories is healthy as long as you allow your body enough nutrients to function properly. Don’t deprive yourself of basic nutrients. Good luck!

sometimes counting is good AND healthy.

    Test:
    buy a cake
    eat the cake

    how do you feel?

    probably not.
You should eat 80% fruits and veggies and 20% protein [eggs, cheese, meat, grains....]. As long as you do that you should be okay.

Even though you’ve stopped purging, have you lost the desire for it during the times that are typical for a bulimic to act on this behavior? Typically, it is not something that goes away just like that, so perhaps you were experimenting, but did not become addicted to it?
I wouldn’t say that you have an affliction, but that you are aware of what you eat. Who isn’tr nowadays, right? You’ll know it when you feel the need to lie about how little you eat.

I totally understand what you mean. I’m confused about the whole eating disorder stuff too. We hear so much of it lately that one just can’t help but wonder if our eating habits are that normal. I think that you should first of all ask yourself if the whole purging and calorie counting is a way to loose some weight or stay thin, or is it some kind of desperate way to resume control of at least that aspect of your life. do you find that you have a really low self esteem and that you feel like hurting yourself quite often? If yes then you most probably should talk to someone and get help. hey you can talk to me about it. I kinda have some experience in that field, not that I’m proud of it.

Counting calories is being food-obsessive. It is much wiser to eat as many healthy foods as you want. You do this by not eating foods that are high in fat with low-nutritional content. Good luck!
