I have a beer gut dis order–I find it easier to just get the next size up when you buy new jeans..
I tell everyone- magazines are simply ads you pay for on the news stand or subscription. Clever plan, these advertisers… pack it all into a package that resembles a book. TV is just as bad. It’s all about $ and mind control. But it is not just the media who makes women feel bad about their bodies. The males in our lives do an effective job at that. We are never good enough.

I agreed with this statement below in a previous comment. I didn’t mean to single out women, it’s just that 80% of my viewers are women. I do plan to do a follow up blog post on this

I like how you say “some girls have self-esteem issues and they end up developing an eating disorder”. What about men!? I have starved myself since June 2009 and have now lost nine stone in weight. When people try to get me to eat 1 small thing such as an apple, I can’t, I am scared incase I put the weight back on. It’s a horrible cyle – one in which I don’t reccommend. I have survived on tea and juice, making sure I had some sugar for energy.

I used to be anerexic. I starved myself, and one day, I looked right into the mirror and said that this isn’t making me feel any better. I started to eat my favorite foods and exercised more. from that time on, I felt sooo much better.

If you really do care for the well-being of your classmate; then by all means, talk to your guidance counselor about it. That intervention might be what she needs.
I think you are stonger then you think. The 1st step to any problem is admiting it. Just by coming on here and doing so you show a lot of strength. Now the next step is to contact someone. Even if you are too scared to go in to a one on one in person talk. If you call and talk to someone maybe after a few calls you will feel comfortable enough to take the next step.
Trust yourself, you can do it. The hardest step is always the 1st!
No, I’m glad that that are making eating disorders more known past the stereo types. I at least know better that my issues are just that, MY causing. That doesn’t mean I chose it, but somewhere along the line my unconscious faltered…
I wish I could get help, but I personally am not ready nor strong enough for that yet.
What is it that your happy that NEDA is getting out? If its the message about eating disorders then Im with you. But If it the message that others are to blame for eating disorders then I disagree. Who do you blame for your eating disorder? Do you blame the media, magazines or yourself?

its too late i already **** myself, ive hated myself for 9 years
i do think this will b helpful. also on days i dnt feel like doin a whole workout i stretch to stay actively motivated…is there a slight exercise more like stretching for those type of days….? Thanx!
