What are some effects of anorexia and bulimia?

   If her mother doesn’t know, tell her mother. It could make the difference between whether or not she will have to battle this illness for the rest of her life. Your friend needs to be in treatment. The best treatment at the highest level of care her parents can afford. If you catch and treat early, you’ve got a shot. Let it go, and your friend can net a LIFETIME of misery.

   Eating disorders RARELY spontaneously remit. They become entrenched at a rapid rate.

   The physical complications are numerous and some are quite serious (including, as you know, death). A few others include: tooth decay, loss of hair, heart attack, a certain type of body hair called “lunago”, and many, many others.

   body systems will eventually shut down
   bulimics will have sores in the throat due to stomach acid

   and the “d” word

   Hello Shawney. A person who is anorexic or bulimic can get really sick….to a point in which the heart might not function properly. Because of bad nutrition the hair and skin gets really dry. My sister was bulimic for many years. What I learned is that people with bulimia have a mental illness, they see themselves fat although they are bony/skinny. It is so important that your friend seeks professional help. The sooner she gets it, the faster she will feel better. Sometimes this illnesses are caused by anxiety.
