I’ve read a Million Little Pieces and I really liked that book. I have also read a lot of teen books about topics like anorexia, bulimia, and cutting but I would really like to start getting into actual adult books.

Any suggestions would be great!

Girl, Interrupted deals a good bit with self-mutilation (one girl sets herself on fire, there is suicide), anorexia (a girl is force-fed because she refuses to eat), and drugs (one or more characters are drug addicts); most of it is set in an asylum.
Best part? It’s a true story.
Crank and Glass are both very good. I know they are extremely popular right now, but they have a right to be. It’s surprisingly dark and realistic. Go Ask Alice is a classic, as is Life Without Ed (which talks about anorexia.)
Crank by Ellen Hopkins
-drug addiction
Glass by Ellen Hopkins
-drug addiction, sequel to Crank
Cut by Patricia Mccormick
-cutting
Impulse by Ellen Hopkins
- teens deal with all their problems … at a psychiatric hospital
Perfect by Natasha Friend
-a teenaged bulimic girl
Here’s a young adult book: Go Ask Alice. It’s about drugs.
Massive is about bulimia. I liked that one.
Cut is about, well, cutting. That was good too.
Impulse is about people who want to die in a mental hospital.
Drug Addiction by John Hicks
This books emphasis Informational text and first-person narratives demonstrate the development of drug addiction, the nature of the addiction, and the possibilities of recovery . And also deal with rehabilitation process.
