what have YOU done to control your Binge Eating Disorder?
I realize that this is a sensitive topic, and many people may not even realize they have this disorder, but if you’ve learned ways to help control it I’d really appreciate your insight. I lose track of what I eat and how much, and it wasn’t until recently that I realized I had a problem and that it’s starting to make changes in my health.
Did you seek professional help?
Do you have methods of keeping track of the eating that have helped you reduce it?
What else have you done to control the issue?
I just wanted to add:
I live in a household where I am not the one grocery shopping. Those in charge of that do not buy healthy foods. My cholesterol is too high for someone my age and I believe it is due to the food available to me not only when I binge, but all day long.
Also, an overall dieting plan is not what I’m after. I’m not overweight at all.
Thanks!

Do your research before answering. It’s classified in the DSM-IV under eating disorder not otherwise specified as an expressive disorder.

Weight watchers is a great way to learn how to eat in moderation. I would not consider it a diet, but an educational tool to apply always and keep on looking and feeling good,
I write every bite down. I don’t have trigger foods in the house. I think about it before I eat. If I am hungry between meals, I eat nuts, celery, plain lettuce, carrots. I do not eat carbs because I crave them.
I’m not going to be any help here as I had the opposite problem. Anorexia. But wanted to wish you good luck. For me figuring out I had the problem was step 1. I did some reading after and talked to some friends and attended a few support groups. It ended up that the reading helped the most. And support from my family. Good luck
There is NO SUCH DIAGNOSIS in DSM-IV.
Your state board of licensed professionals would be VERY INTERESTED in knowing who diagnosed you. Such quacks should be disciplined.
Binge eating disorder is a disease in which a person crave for food. thi craving for food will result to obesity. almost 10-15% of obese in USA have a Binge disease. The best thing to do is to consult a medical doctor, phsychariatrist, and psychologist. This disorder believe be caused by pshcychological problems. This can be cured by cognitive behavior therephy wherein the client is being how to eat properly. In fact eating is the means to cvombat anger to the person so instead of beating them these people will just eat not knowing that its harmful. the most practical way is to take depressant medicines or simply eat juices regularly.
Keep the amount of meat, eggs, and cheese down, eating more vegetables, fruit, legumes, and grain products. Use what money you get to buy plant sterol enriched margarine yoghurt; also skim/low fat milk. DIETING: Go to: h t t p : / / c h o o s e d i e t . b l o g s p o t . c o m (typing it this way bypasses the Yahoo! automated censors) and select one, possibly changing, later. Eat 6 – 8 small meals, daily, with a little protein in each, preceded 20 minutes earlier with a large glass of water. Snack on any amount of celery sticks, with the occasional carrot stick, and/or slices of cucumber, tomato, or raw onion, in any vinegar (a little salt pepper/chilli powder is OK, but no oil, or sugar! Rinse your mouth with water, later, if using vinegar). Check out Understand and accept that many people use food in an attempt to fill an emotional void, which is unhealthy, and never works. Others eat out of boredom, so have plenty of things to keep you occupied. Sometimes I use See… and and and… and and Call EDAP on 1-800-931-2237. Also view hypnotism for weight loss (if fairly suggestible) at on page 60. Some of the above should help.
